First Edition, First Issue of Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach, Signed by Dahl and in the Original Dust Jacket

Roald Dahl. James and the Giant Peach. A Children's Story. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, [1961]. First edition, first issue (with five-line colophon stating "Bound by H. Wolff, New York" instead of The Book Press, and no mention of the "Charlie" series or printing history). Signed by Dahl on the front free endpaper. Quarto. [viii], [120] pages. With illustrations by Nancy Ekholm Burkert. Publishers' full red cloth, boards stamped in blind, spine lettered in gilt. Original first issue dust jacket (no listing of ISBN number). Very mild sunning to the cloth spine of the book, which is mostly bright and very nice overall. Jacket toned, and worn with some short tears, minor chips and light soiling. Still, a very good copy of the true first edition of this book, written before Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the English edition of James and the Giant Peach was not published until six years later).

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
