    Nathaniel Hawthorne. Grandfather's Chair: A History for Youth. Boston: E. P. Peabody, 1841. First edition. Small octavo. 140 pages. Publisher's full brown cloth, black paper label on front board. Spine a bit sunned, binding somewhat worn, rear board and endleaves dampstained, text on front label faded to illegibility (as is common for this title), text and endleaves foxed. Gutters of pages 24-25 and 26-27 repaired, with some minor damage to text at inner margin of pages 24-25. A few other gutters overopened. Skewed. Still, a very good example of an uncommon children's book. BAL 7590. From the collection of Donald Kaufmann.
