    First edition. Quarto. [xviii], 247 pages. Illustrated in color and black and white, additional tipped-in black and white illustration at head of chapter one. Bound by Asprey in dark blue morocco with gilt rules on boards, five raised spine bands with gilt title and ship devices in compartments, board edges and turn-ins gilt lined, binder's gilt stamp on lower turn-in, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. Spine color faded. Small pencil bookseller's notes on verso of rear free endpaper. Repaired tears in leaf with pages 3 and 4. Light tanning or foxing around plate margins. Pages with occasional minor creases, few stains or minor spots of soiling and  smudging. Very good. From the collection of Donald Carter.
