With a December 19, 1946, one-page Autograph Letter Signed by Hugh Lofting laid in, in which Lofting discusses the trouble of publishing horticultural books in the current climate. Octavo. xii, 342 pages, including seventy-five full-page black-and-white illustrations reckoned in the pagination. With color frontispiece and tissue guard. Publisher's blue cloth with black titles and decorative stamping and a color illustration inset into the front board. Pictorial endpapers. Minor wear to the extremities. Spine slightly sunned and cocked. Ownership signature to front free endpaper and rear flyleaf. Light thumb-soiling to the text. Very good condition.
