Howard Pyle. Group of Five King Arthur and Robin Hood Books, comprising: The Story of King Arthur and His Knights. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1903. First edition. [Together with:] The Story of the Champions of the Round Table. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1905. First edition. [And:] The Story of Sir Launcelot and His Companions. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1907. First edition. [And:] The Story of the Grail and the Passing of Arthur. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1910. First edition. [And:] The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood of Great Renown, in Nottinghamshire. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1913. Reprint edition. Five volumes. Large octavo. Various paginations. Full-page and in-text illustrations; head- and tail-pieces. Publisher's yellowish-brown cloth, spines and fronts stamped in gilt, red, and black; all text block edges trimmed; pale brown coated endpapers. Mild wear to bindings, particularly at spine ends and along bottom edges of boards; corners just slightly tapped. Endpapers very slightly rubbed; a few hinges just starting to crack, but all still sound; previous owner bookplate at front pastedown of Champions, with penciled signature opposite. Text block edges a bit yellowed with age; a couple dust-soiled along the top. Very good.
