Inscribed by Alger on the front blank: "George Fairbanks, jr./from his affect te [sic] friend/Horatio Alger, Jr./Christmas 1892. Octavo. [2, blank], iv, 352, [12, ads], [2, blank] pages. Four plates inserted throughout. Publisher's full tan cloth, front board and spine decoratively stamped in black and yellow; black coated endleaves. Spine somewhat toned; spine and boards somewhat edgeworn; mild soiling to boards; some bubbling to boards; hinges cracking; gutter facing front blank cracked; text toned; a few gutters overopened; a few leaves creased at corners. Still, a good copy. From the James C. Seacrest Collection.
