    Description

A Very Rare Variant of the Signed Limited Edition of The House at Pooh Corner

    A. A. Milne. The House at Pooh Corner. New York: E. P. Dutton & Co, [1928]. First edition. Signed by Milne and artist, Ernest Shepard on the limitation page. This copy is one of a very few wherein the limitation page from the Dutton large paper deluxe edition has been tipped in between the title and dedication pages of the first trade edition - this sheet of Japon paper is numbered 11 (of 250), trimmed for this smaller format, and the words "on Large Paper" have been inked out. Twelvemo. xi, 178 pages. Illustrations by Ernest H. Shepard. Publisher's salmon cloth, titled and pictorially stamped in gilt. All edges gilt. Pictorial endpapers. In glassine dust jacket and marbled slipcase. Very minor scuffing to spine ends and corners. Top tenth or so of the glassine missing. Otherwise, a near fine copy of a rare variant.
