Quarto. 206 [1, engraver's note], [1, blank] pages; illustrated title-leaf inserted, frontispiece and twenty-four additional illustrated plates tipped to heavy paper and inserted throughout, captioned tissue guards. Near contemporary black crushed morocco, spine lettered in gilt with five raised bands, front board decoratively stamped in gilt; all edges gilt; illustrated endpapers, double flyleaves. Purportedly bound by Zaehnsdorf, with two notes written pencil declaring it as such, but unsigned. Covers very lightly rubbed; corners barely tapped. Just a hint of cockling to the first and last gatherings. Nearly fine. From a Private Collection in St. Charles, IL.
