    Description

[Christopher Robin Milne]. Photo album. "Ballards," Forest Row, Sussex, no date [but ca. late 1920s - 1943]. Rare photograph label "Christopher Robin Milne" pictured with four of the original Winnie-the-Pooh character stuffed animals. Oblong folio. 35 leaves, small photographic snapshots, two to four photos per page on both rectos and versos, most labeled in white ink. Black cloth album, stamped "photographs" in gilt to front cover. Photograph of Christopher Robin mounted to thin white board, board in turn mounted to page. Measures 39 x 65 mm. The only photo of Christopher Robin, the stuffed animals, or anyone in the Milne family in the album. Near fine.

An incredibly rare image of Christopher Robin with four of the stuffed animals made immortal as characters in his father's series of Winnie-the-Pooh books. Pictured here, an approximately 10-year-old Christopher Robin is seen standing in front of what appears to be a white tent holding Piglet in one arm and Tigger in the other. Winnie the Pooh and Eeyore are lovingly posed in front of the boy. A remarkable photo, seemingly taken in the summer of 1931, just before young Christopher Robin turned 11 years old. From the Pat McInally Collection of Winnie-the-Pooh and Christopher Robin
