Presentation copy, inscribed by Chaplin on the recto of the frontispiece: "To my friend./Gay Preri [?]/with my very best wishes/Charlie Chaplin/March 20th 1922/[flourish]". Octavo. [x], 155, [1, blank], [2, ads] pages. With several photographic plates inserted throughout. Publisher's pictorial boards. In original publisher's dust jacket (probable first issue). Spine of binding toned; some edgewear and chipping to spine; front joint with short tears at upper and lower edges; upper edge of binding a bit bumped; binding a bit toned; some rubbing and edgewear to boards; some foxing to endleaves; text and plates somewhat toned. Dust jacket spine toned and chipped; jacket panels toned; upper edge of jacket chipped; lower edge of jacket edgeworn; jacket dampstained and thumbsoiled. Still, a good copy. From the James C.
