Portrait frontispiece and thirty-eight additional inserted plates. Publisher's original dark green cloth; front and back stamped in blind; spine stamped in blind and gilt. Edges rough-trimmed. Pale yellow endpapers. Housed in custom green cloth slipcase. Spine faded to light olive; rubbing to head and tail of spine, edges and corners of boards; light wear to hinges; some shelf wear to boards; small instances of dark spot-soiling, pale splashes to spine and boards. Regular wear to endpapers. Very faint offsetting opposite plates, toning to extreme edges with occasional spotting around engravings; mostly marginal foxing, very sparse; evidence of dog-earing. Light wear, rubbing to slipcase. Very good. Eckel pp. 64-5; Smith 5. From the collection of Jerome P. O'Connor.
