Frontispiece, vignette title-page, and thirty-eight additional plates by H. K. Browne, including eight "dark" plates. Modern three-quarter red leather over red cloth covered-boards, spine stamped decoratively in gilt with five raised bands and two dark red leather spine labels lettered in gilt; all text block edges trimmed, top edge gilt; marbled endpapers, with Bayntun Bindery stamp at verso of front free endpaper. Mild shelf wear at extremities of binding; lower corners slightly tapped. Text block edges softly dulled with age, particularly along edges, with small damp stain at lower corner that extends into inner margins of pages. Plates a bit mottled with a trace of offsetting on facing pages. Very good. Smith 12.
