Wood-engraved frontispiece and vignette title, and eleven wood-engraved text illustrations. [And:] The Haunted Man and the Ghost's Bargain. London: Bradbury & Evans, 1848. First edition. [8], 188 pages. Wood-engraved frontispiece and vignette title on toned grounds, and fifteen woodcut text illustrations. Together five small octavo volumes, in the original cloth decoratively stamped in gilt and blind, all edges gilt. Occasional wear and soiling; front hinge of Christmas Carol cracked; bookplate at front pastedown of Cricket and The Haunted Man; ownership signature in The Battle of Life. A very appealing set in very good condition. Housed individually in green straight-grain morocco pull-off top cases lettered in gilt with rubbing at edges and spine.
