    An Original Drawing by Chaim Gross

    Chaim Gross. The Jewish Holidays. A suite of eleven original lithographs by Chaim Gross with forward and explanatory text by Rabbi Avraham Soltes. Paris-New York: [Pierre Jean Mathan], 1969. Portfolio of twenty-two lithographs and an original drawing. The suite is limited to 250 copies, of which this is numbered VIII out of XX and "specially printed for Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schlang". Containing one each of the eleven color lithographs on Arches paper. In addition, a complete suite of the eleven lithographs in black and white numbered 18/50, plus an original drawing. Each print numbered, titled and signed in pencil, along the lower margin. Original drawing signed by the artist and dated "67". Lithographs and text sheets, approximately 19 x 25 inches, laid loosely in gilt lettered purple silk chemise housed in matching box. Pages with light edge wear and few minor creases. Box with light scuffs and a small tear at the foot of its upper joint. Near fine.

    "Justification of the Tirage.

    "This suite of ten original lithographs, plus title page, of the Jewish Holidays was created by Chaim Gross in Paris in 1968 for Associated American Artists. The artist was assisted by the master lithographer, Marcel Salinas. The lithographs were printed on the presses of Georges Trotignon and Lucien Détruit. The typography for the text was composed by hand and printed on the presses of Pierre Jean Mathan on Vélin pur Chiffon des Papeteries de Lana."
