Octavo (7.25 x 4.875 inches; 186 x 125 mm.). 312 pages. Publisher's green cloth, front and spine stamped in white and dark blue; top edge of the text block stained blue, others trimmed; in the original illustrated dust jacket. Minor shelf wear at extremities of binding; spine ends slightly pushed; soft bump at front corner; one tiny hole at front joint. Normal age toning to edges of text block, with a few speckles of foxing. Jacket somewhat toned recto and verso with edge wear and fairly mild chipping at spine and flap fold ends; a few short tears and fragile areas repaired with tape at verso, most invisible from recto; one small stain at rear flap fold visible only at verso; flaps clipped; faint tidemark at rear flap. Near fine book in an about very good dust jacket. The first book-length work by Daly, popular writer of hard-boiled crime fiction and Black Mask contributor.
