    First edition of Mill's Masterpiece

James Mill. Elements of Political Economy. London: Baldwin, Cradock, and Joy, 1821. First edition. Octavo. viii, 240 pages with publisher's ads at rear. Half-bound in leather over cloth boards with gilt border decorations, spine titles and ruling. Covers rubbed with some abrading to joints, corners, and spine ends. Front joint and hinge cracked but holding. Spine and spine head with some loss. Light spotting and offsetting throughout with a few light pencil notations. Otherwise, generally a very good copy.

"My object has been to compose a schoolbook of Political Economy; to detach the essential principles of the science from all extraneous topics, to state the propositions, clearly and in their logical order, and to subjoin its demonstration to each."

Amex 313. Einaudi 3892. Goldsmiths' 23118. Kress C.739. McCullough, p. 17. From the James and Deborah Boyd Collection.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
