    John Maynard Keynes' Copy

Alfred Marshall. Introduction to the Tripos in Economics and Associated Branches of Political Science. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, [1906]. First edition. Association copy, with the bookplate of John Maynard Keynes. Octavo. 16 pages. Publisher's printed wrappers. Very light wear and spotting to covers. Otherwise, near fine.

Marshall set forth in founding a new program and curriculum in Economics and Political Science at Cambridge with the acceptance of a new Tripos (or honors examination) in 1903. While it was not always viewed as a triumph for the university by those teaching in History and the Moral Sciences, this further specialization and assertive move was considered by some Marshall's "great achievement." This pamphlet provided the official introduction to the new program for students.

Keynes 69. From the James and Deborah Boyd Collection.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
