Bram Stoker. The Jewel of the Seven Stars. London: William Heinemann, 1903. First edition. With a signed card from Stoker to his theater colleague, Genevieve Ward, reading: "Genevieve Ward / from her old friend / Bram Stoker / 1903" pasted to the front free endpaper. Octavo. [viii], 337 pages. Publisher's red cloth with black and gilt titles and a blind-stamped scarab design on each board, and the seven stars in gilt on the front cover only. Noticeable wear, soiling and abrading to the boards. Minor staining to text. Binding cracked in a few places. A good copy. Ward was a famous American-born soprano and actress in Europe, and must surely have met Stoker during his days at the Lyceum Theatre. Described by Richard Dalby, in his Stoker bibliography, as "Stoker's best supernatural novel after Dracula." Dalby 14(a). From the collection of first fan, Jack Cordes.
