    [Bookbinding]. R. R. Holmes. Specimens of Royal Fine and Historical Bookbinding, Selected from the Royal Library, Windsor Castle. London: W. Griggs & Sons, 1893. First edition. Approximately 14.5 x 10.5 inches. Large quarto. [4], v, [1, blank], 16 pages. With inserted frontispiece of the Royal Library, and 152 lithographed plates of bindings. All text pages are lithographed as well (the frontispiece is the only leaf in the book that is not a lithograph). Publisher's full red cloth, elaborately stamped in black, blue and gilt, spine lettered in gilt, lithographed endleaves. Spine sunned and soiled, some soiling and rubbing to covers, plates 47-51 are loose, yet present. A very good copy of a beautiful book of English royal bindings.
