    Wilhelm II. The Kaiser's Memoirs. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1922. First American edition. Inscribed by Kaiser Wilhelm II on the third blank in English: "Wilhelm II/F.R./Doorn 1931/Nothing in the world is able to/surpass the stupidity of men who/persistently refuse to things [sic] as they are./[flourish]". Mounted on the second blank is an autograph letter signed by the Kaiser's secretary (the letter is folded into the original envelope, and the envelope is mounted), stating that the recipient's letter and book were received, and the book will be returned to him with the emperor's signature. Octavo. [3 blank], [viii], [366], [4, blank] pages. Portrait frontispiece inserted. Publisher's full blue cloth, front board and spine lettered in gilt. Top edge gilt, others uncut. Cloth spine toned and edgeworn; some wear to corners; some light rubbing, soiling to binding. Front free endpaper a bit loose; gutter immediately behind front gutter is cracked; some overopening in text. Text toned. Overall, a good copy. From the James C. Seacrest Collection.
