    Sir James Prior (1790? -1869), miscellaneous writer; entered the navy as a surgeon, and wrote accounts of his voyages, which were published (1820) in the New Voyages and Travels of Sir Richard Phillips; F.S.A. 1830; became deputy inspector of hospitals, 1843; knighted, 1858; chief works, biographies of Burke (1824), as well as this one. Washington Irving's copy from which the American edition was published by Carey & Hart in Philadelphia in 1837. NSTC 2p27076.
