Five octavo volumes and octavo atlas volume. [2], xxii, 488, 45, [1, blank]; viii, 560, 72; viii, 580, 28; viii, 626, [2], 16; vii, [1, blank], 779, [1, blank], 36 pages. Frontispiece portrait in Volume I. Engraved title-page and ten mounted folding engraved, hand-colored maps and plans in Atlas. Text volumes bound in contemporary full tree calf, spines ruled and tooled in gilt. Bindings worn and chipped, volume I with front board chipped and nearly detached and binding dampstained, with first twelve or so leaves and portrait dampstained. Tissue guard facing portrait also dampstained, with owner's pencil notes. Text toned and foxed to varying degrees, some occasional soiling. Front free endpaper lacking in volume V. Bookplate in volume I, and with previous owner's ink signatures or inscriptions in two places in most volumes. Atlas bound in half plum cloth over plain paper boards with printed paper label on front board. Some minor wear and soiling to binding, engraved title-page nearly detached. Overall, a good set.
