Four octavo volumes. xxii,1953 pages continuous. Two frontispiece portraits, five plates. Publisher's blue cloth with gilt titles on spine. Boards rubbed and lightly soiled, corners bumped, three volumes with metal tabs on upper margins, one volume with multiple annotated paper slips inserted into textblock with cellophane tape (worn and curled), holograph pencil annotations and markings throughout, occasional foxing or stains, small upper edge tears from tabs; else a good set, well used for research.
