    More Information:

Perera (circa 1535-1610) "... produced two works in the fields of magic and science which had great currency...It (this work) was being read as late as 1661 and 1674 when there were editions of a English translation... [He] admits the existence of natural magic, which is the noblest part of physical science, medicine and mathematics. Men skilled in knowledge of nature can work great wonders by it. But wicked or ignorant men learn even natural magic from demons... One of his longest chapters is on alchemy... In his second book on dreams Pererius holds that many are vain and idle, but many also are true. .. Yet his third book seems uncompromisingly hostile to astrology than the second was to the interpretation of dreams." VD16 P1362. de Backer/Sommervogel VI,504,4.
