First American Edition of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre in Dust Jacket

    B. Traven. The Treasure of the Sierra Madre. New York: Knopf, 1935. First American edition. Octavo. 366 pages. Publisher's black cloth with blindstamped front board and gilt stamped spine, dust jacket. Jacket has been repaired and restored, especially at spine and joints, minor rubbing and thumbsoiling to jacket, binding rubbed, text a bit foxed (foxing heavier at endleaves), last few leaves and rear free endpaper have tiny holes near upper corner (not affecting text). Overall, a very good copy. Housed in quarter burgundy morocco clamshell case.
The mysterious and enigmatic author's most famous novel. This is Traven's second novel published in America. His previous novel, Death Ship had also been published by Knopf. Roy Pateman, in his biography of Traven (The Man Nobody Knows), writes that the "renowned American publisher Alfred Knopf had been in the business for over twenty years, but not until a visit to Berlin in 1932 was he made aware of the existence of Traven who by then had sold millions of books in Europe." John Huston's Oscar-winning 1948 film helped to establish this deserving novel as a literary classic.
From the Palo Alto Collection of Modern Literature.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
