Frontispiece. Publisher's brown cloth with decoration depicting a cowboy and a bow and arrow at front board as well as the title stamped in black at front board, titles in gilt at spine as well as pictorial decoration in black. Some fraying to spine ends and corners with light touches of soil and rubbing to baords. Endpapers moderately foxed. Light toning to text block. Both hinges starting. Small pencil notations at preliminaries. Near fine. "Author of this earliest authentic, though fictionalized, cowboy narrative was Thomas Pilgrim, who wrote under pseudonym shown" (Howes) [Howes, 790].
