Handsome matching blue full morocco by Bayntun-Riviere with five raised bands, gilt titles and rules to the spine in compartments. Double-ruled gilt borders to boards. Triple-ruled gilt inner dentelles with elaborately-stamped corner pieces. Stamp-signed on the inside front covers. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Housed together in a custom blue cloth slipcase. Some fading to spine leather. Bookplate to front pastedowns. Overall, an unusually clean set in near fine condition.

    The initial twelve tales were collected between covers as The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, published in England and America in 1892; and eleven of the second twelve... as The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes, published in 1894.
