    8vo. [A]2, B4, B-2E4, 2F2. [4], viii, 212, v, [3]p. [Lacks letterpress t.p. but has the engraved t.p.]. Contemporary flame-grained calf, gilt rule on covers, spine worn with central crack but strong, label worn, marbled endpapers; internally very clean with fine impressions of the plates, offsetting from plates. Engraved frontis, by Dent, extra engraved t.p., text with 76 (9 full-page) text engravings after Hogarth by Corbould and Dent. From the Krown & Spellman Collection.

    "Trusler published a prodigious range of works on topics as diverse as medicine, farming, history, politeness, law, theology, travel, and gardening. In 1766 Jane Hogarth, the widow of the artist, employed Trusler to supply explanatory commentaries of the prints, and she herself sold the resulting Hogarth Moralized (1768)." [ODNB].


    Originally released in 14 parts between 1766 and 1768. There are apparently several issues. In this copy signatures G & H are unpaginated, but on thick paper. H4 catchmark is "needle". ESTC t100099. Lowndes 1081.Lewine 242. Halkett/Laing 2840. Ebert 9905.
