Pierre de Nolhac. J.- M. Nattier: Peintre de la Cour de Louis XV. Paris: Goupil, 1905. First edition. From a private collection from New Orleans.

    More Information:

Quarto. Approximately 12.75 x 9.5 inches. [vi], [165], [1, blank] pages. With four full-color plates and forty-five black-and-white plates (each with descriptive tissue-guard) inserted throughout. Bound in contemporary three-quarter blue levant morocco over marbled boards, spine lettered in gilt, five raised bands, top edge gilt, marbled endleaves. Spine a bit sunned, front joint cracking, some rubbing to edges, corners a bit bumped, rear hinge starting. A very good copy. With two ownership signatures of French poster artist Maurice Feuillet.

Nattier's "paint brush is gracious and spiritual; his color is of an exquisite delicacy. He was, par excellence, the portraitist of Louis XV's court." (Benezit, pp. 660-661).

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
