[4], 38 pages, 161 leaves (single-sided illustrated plates), [4] pages; [4], 48 pages, [2] pages, 153 leaves (single-sided illustrated plates). Total of three hundred-fourteen illustrated plates of fans. Decorated head- and tail-pieces, decorated initials. Quarter red roan over heavy red cloth covered boards with beveled edges, front board gilt with fan designs in corners with mottoes and heraldry device in center all bordered by leaf patterns; gilt title and designs on spine, upper edge gilt. Bookplate of "Joseph W. Drexel/ Josephine E. Drexel" and illustrated bookplate of "Lucy Wharton Drexel" on both front pastedowns, small binder's label on rear pastedown of the English volume "Leighton's/ 40 Brewer Street". Bindings rubbed and scuffed with surface leather loss, small dents in front board of "Foreign" volume, corners bumped, head and foot of spines chipped, tears in spine coverings, cracked joints; hinges reinforced with cloth tape, "Foreign" volume with creased and torn endpapers, occasional spots of foxing, light smudges, and unobtrusive soiling, few small edge tears; else in very good condition.
