    James Stuart and Nicholas Revett. The Antiquities of Athens. London: John Haberkorn and John Nichols, 1762-1794. First edition, first three volumes of an eventual five. Folio (21.25 x 14.25 inches; 540 x 364 mm.). 231 full-page engraved plates, including frontispiece portrait in second volume and four maps, lacking plate twenty-nine in first chapter of Volume II; engraved vignettes and head- and tail-pieces. Contemporary diced calf, boards triple-ruled and tooled in gilt; rebacked to style in a lighter leather, spine in seven compartments, raised bands, ruled and lettered in gilt; gilt-tooled board edges and turn-ins; marbled endpapers. Ex Lynn Public Library with small rubber stamp to both sides of each title leaf and bookplate with holographic notes and rubber stamp to each front pastedown. Boards rubbed with several surface scratches and a few deeper scores, abrasion to upper left portion of front board on third volume, portion of Volume III's boards lightly faded; edges worn with boards exposed. Occasional light foxing; just a few plates creased in margins, two with closed tears; two fore-edge margins trimmed. A very good copy of a beautiful production; plates generally bright and fine.
