    One of 500 Copies Signed by Bakst, With an Original Costume Design by Xhrouet Laid-In

    [Léon Bakst]. L' Oeuvre de Léon Bakst pour La Belle au Bois Dormant. Ballet en Cinq actes d'après le conte de Perrault. Musique de Tchaïkovsky. Préface d'André Levinson. Paris: M. de Brunoff, 1922. First edition, one of 500 numbered copies (this being copy number 428) signed by Bakst and de Brunoff. Folio. [iv], [24] pages. With lithographed portrait of Bakst by Picasso, two mounted color-plates (in the text), and fifty-four full-color plates with captioned tissue-guards, complete as issued. Original wrappers. Laid-in is an original gouache costume drawing by M. Xhrouet entitled "Koulourouz", signed by him at the bottom, and with a gift inscription by an unknown person, dated 1941. Wrappers rebacked with a new spine and paper spine label, toned, with edgewear and some soiling, a gathering of two plates and one tissue guard loose, previous owner's gift inscription. Some wear, a few tears and tape repairs to drawing. Good. Housed in later chemise and slipcase.
