First edition, one of 367 numbered copies (out of a total edition of 424 copies), this being copy number 69. A fine example of this beautiful and monumental tribute and retrospective of one of modern Greece's most influential artists. The planning process of this book was literally years in the making, with Tsarouchis beginning the designs for it before his death in 1989.

A folio in celebration of Greece's greatest modern artist, Yannis Tsarouchis. With tributes in essay form by authors Odysseus Elytis, James Merrill, Reynolds Price, Yannis Ritsos, Sir Stephen Soender, and John Updike; artists Paul Sadmus, Alekos Fassianos, and David Hockney; directors Michael Cacoyannis, Costa Gavras, and Jules Vangelis, and Stavros Xarhakos; the photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson, Horst P. Horst, and Constantine Manos; fashion designer James Galanos, hoterlier Dimitris Tsitouras, and the publishers Ralph Sylvester and Stathis Orphanos. The preface is by Melina Mercouri, former Greek Minister of Cluture, and the afterword is by Yannis Tsarouchis. Limited to 424 copies, signed by all the contributors. Printed letterpress on heavyweight Somerset paper, with both texts and color plates laid into a large portfolio. This folio was designed by Tsarouchis in the loose-leaf style of the legendary Teriade Editions. Teriade, a Greek publisher, lived in Paris and was an early Tsarouchis mentor. Greece honored Teriade with his own museum on the island of Lesbos, where all his publications are currently on display. On December 15, 2004 a gala reception for our Tsarouchis folio was held at the Benaki Musseum in Athens. A copy of the Invitation is laid in the folio. From the collection of Alexander J. Jemal, Jr.
