First edition. Folio in fours. [10], 33, [4 leaves of plates], [2], 13, [1, blank], [44 leaves of plates], [2], 22, [117 leaves of plates], [2], 26, [36 leaves of plates] pages. 200 plates, one folding; vignette title-page; ornamental borders; initials; decorative rules; tail-pieces. Contemporary vellum-covered boards; manuscript inking on spine. Title-page printed in red and black. Regular toning, soiling, wear to vellum; large chip out of bottom hinge corner about 1.25 inches deep, 4.5 inches wide; fairly large dark yellow stain to front board; further green and brown soiling to rear board; surface wear at hinges; darkening to backstrip; bumping to corners. Edges of text block softened. Penciling to front pastedown. Front inner hinge beginning to split; front free and first two gatherings of leaves beginning to detach from bottom. Small wormhole at inner hinge, roughly two-thirds of the way to the top. Damp stain at bottom, along gutter runs through first several gatherings of the text block. Some edge, occasional text toning; mild foxing, spot soiling throughout, including brown spotting on leaf D. Black speckling to Plate 47 in part two, Plate 3 in part three, and facing pages. Folding plate torn completely in half; detached half laid in. Parts one through four. Very good. Containing full run of plates detailing plans for fountains, façades, and gardens. Cicognara 886.
