A Handsome, Complete Copy of Thomas Hope's Beautiful and Influential Work on Neo-Classical Décor

[Furniture and Design]. Thomas Hope. Household Furniture and Interior Decoration... London: Printed by T. Bensley for Longman, Hurst, Rees, and Orme, 1807. First edition. Folio. Approximately 17.75 x 12 inches. [vi], 53, [1, blank] pages. With additional engraved title-page and sixty engraved plates inserted throughout. Half-title present. Later nineteenth-century quarter brown levant morocco over marbled boards, spine decoratively stamped and lettered in gilt, marbled endleaves. Binding rubbed, corners bumped, several preliminary leaves re-mounted with tissue, small shelf number bookplate on front pastedown, small ink library stamp appears in a few places in text (mainly on blank leaves or endleaves - one is on half-title), text and plates somewhat foxed, a few ink spots in a few places. Still, a near fine copy. Many consider this book to be the most important English furniture design book of the early nineteenth century.
