    Paper covers, folded (with a glassine protective covering). Number 4 of 50 printed on Lafuma pure yarn paper with wide margins. Printed by Maurice Darantière in Dijon (December 9, 1920). Back paper cover has small hole, spine worn at edges, plastic glassine covering is torn at edges and on the back, otherwise good. Quarto (9.75" x 13"), [1-3], [1 blank], 5-34, [35-36] pages. Includes a list of 53 of Picabia's works exhibited at the La Cible Gallery in December 1920. A Picabia self-portrait line drawing, dated 1920, is tipped in on the frontispiece, and 15 tipped in illustrations of Picabia's works, including 9 in color. There is an original signed hand drawing by Picabia on half title page and two signed inscriptions by Picabia on front flyleaf, along with an inscription by the publisher Jacques Povolozky. Rare first edition of the art work and the poetry of Francis Picabia (1879-1953) by the novelist Marie Weyrich, known as Marie de La Hire (1878-1925), an ardent admirer of Picabia. Both a biography of Picabia and a catalog of his works presented at an exhibition that La Cible Gallery in 1920, this work is the first true study of the celebrated Dadaist who became involved with the surrealist group in Paris in the 1920s.
