    Twenty-four Engravings of Childhood Games

    [Claudia Stella, engraver]. Jeux de L'Enfance Gravé par Claudia Stella. [N.p.]: [n.p.], circa 1700. Oblong folio (approximately 7 x 10.5 inches). Title plate and twenty-four pages of mounted illustrations engraved by Claudia Stella, after the style of her uncle and teacher, Jacques Stella. Each illustration is approximately 4.5 x 5.5 inches. Bound in half pebbled morocco over marbled paper covered boards, four raised spine bands with rules and gilt title, marbled endpapers. Leather rubbed with surface loss, paper boards scratched, corners bumped and splitting; front hinge cracked, front free endpaper loose with paper loss around edges, holograph ink gift inscription on first front fly-leaf, holograph pencil annotations above and below mounted title plate with birth and death dates of Claudia Stella (1636-1697) and painter Francesco Albani (1578-1660); pages with edge wear, small chips, corner bends, occasional dampstains, and few border tears, not affecting the mounted illustrations; occasional light bleedthrough in corners of illustrations from mounting, few loose corners, and unobtrusive smudges; else a very good collection of engravings.
