Dexter, [1890-91]. Collected edition. Two volumes, large quarto (14.125 x 10.625 inches; 358 x 271 mm.). Paginated continuously [2], xviii, [2], 128, [2], 129-192, xvi, vi, [2], 2, 4, 3-82 pages. Two portrait frontispieces and fifty-three additional engraved plates (some colored) with printed tissue inserts. Facsimiles, forty-four inserted (some folding); full-page and in-text illustrations; initials; head- and tail-pieces. Half later red leather with red cloth-covered boards; gilt ruling at cloth edge; spine stamped in gilt with four raised bands. All edges trimmed and speckled. Extremely mild shelf wear at extremities of binding, some at hinges; slight scuffing to boards; one or two threads fraying at cloth edges. Minor marginal thumbsoiling scattered throughout text block; occasional faint foxing, mostly at plates; light offsetting onto tissue. Near fine. Wrappers for original serial parts and for supplement bound in at end of each volume. Additional title-pages inserted for series and for "Additional Illustrations to Charles Dickens by Pen and Pencil." From the collection of Jerome P. O'Connor.
