Anthony Burgess. Enderby Outside. London: [1968]. First edition, inscribed.

    More Information:

Anthony Burgess. Enderby Outside. London: William Heinemann, [1968]. First edition. Inscribed by the author on the title-page: "To Rolland L. Comstock/-Anthony Burgess/4.11.89." Octavo. [243] pages. Publisher's dark gray cloth, spine lettered in gilt, dust jacket. Jacket flaps are trimmed along inner edges, due to the fact that they were once taped to pastedowns. There is tape residue to jacket flaps and endleaves. Price on jacket is still present. Jacket spine slightly toned, some rubbing and mild edgewear to jacket, cloth spine rubbed. Evidence of bookplate removal on front free endpaper (most likely Comstock's famous bookplate). Some foxing to edge of text block. Slightly skewed. A good copy. From the collection of Donald Kaufmann.

Rolland L. Comstock was a prominent book collector. He was murdered at age 70, a case that remains unsolved to this very day (although a wrongful death civil lawsuit was brought by his children against his ex-wife - this suit was first won by his children, but later reversed).
