    Description

Amos Andrew Parker. Trip to the West and Texas. Comprising a Journey of Eight Thousand Miles, through New-York, Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, Louisiana and Texas, in the Autumn and Winter of 1834-5. Interspersed with Anecdotes, Incidents and Observations. Concord: William White; Boston: Benjamin B. Mussey, 1835. First Edition. 8vo. 276pp. including Appendix. Original blind stamped green cloth with gilt title on spine. Engraved frontispiece and one internal plate. Light wear to spine and corners; spine somewhat faded. Minor age toning throughout with occasional light foxing. Generally fine. Housed in a contemporary green cloth slipcase.

Parker, a New Hampshire editor, lawyer, and legislator, took it upon himself to explore the vastness of Texas and the west just prior to the Texas Revolution. During his travels along the Sabine to the Colorado River and back to San Felipe in late 1834, he took copious notes and wrote vivid and discerning descriptions of all he saw and experienced. Eventually, he published this important reference book, of which 40,000 copies were sold. Later works include Poems at Fourscore and Recollections of General Lafayette's Visit, and Sketch of His Life.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
