    William H. Brown. Portrait Gallery of Distinguished American Citizens, with Biographical Sketches, and Fac-similes of Original Letters. Hartford: E. B. and E. C. Kellogg, 1846. Later edition. Folio. [2, blank], [iv], [4]-111, [3, blank] pages, with twenty-seven lithographic plates each accompanied by a facsimile of an autograph letter and biographical text. Contemporary quarter-cloth, all edges gilt, front board and spine lettered in gilt, central motif of silhouette on front board stamped in gilt, central motif of silhouette blind stamped on rear board. Boards mildly rubbed, board edges moderately rubbed and worn, corners a bit chewed, a few small stains on rear board, small loss on rear cover. Text block foxed, several vertical creases and chips on front free endpaper, gutter margin over-opened and hinge cloth exposed at recto of first lithograph. A good copy with beautiful lithographs of American figures.
