Seven copper-plates and an engraved frontispiece of Mico Chlucco, King of the Seminoles. One folding map "A Map of the Coast of East Florida from the River St. John Southward, to near Cape Canaveral". Contemporary leather, rebacked with titles stamped in gilt on a morocco spine label and addition gilt vignettes and decoration on the spine. Wear along the edges of the boards, rounded corners; some toning and light scattered foxing to contents but generally a tight, clean copy. Former owner's bookplate loose but laid in to front endpapers. "Extensive travel, in the early years of the Republic, through the southern frontiers and among the Creeks and Cherokees. A work of high character well meriting its wide esteem," (Howes).
