    Description

Theodore Roosevelt. Outdoor Pastimes of an American Hunter. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1905. First edition, limited issue on Ruisdael paper, limited to 260 copies, of which this is number fifty-four, and signed by the author. Octavo (9.75 x 6.5 inches; 248 x 165 mm.). [xii], 369, [1, printer's device] pages, limitation leaf inserted at front; frontispiece and forty-eight illustrated plates inserted throughout, captioned tissue guards. Modern half-calf over light brown laid paper-covered boards; spine lettered and ruled in black, a pastiche of the original pigskin binding, possibly including some original elements; page edges untrimmed; recent endpapers, potentially using the original endpapers as flyleaves (old offsetting to corners). Just a few minor scuffs to the leather and some very minor rubbing to the boards. Page edges lightly foxed; light marginal soiling throughout with an occasional tidemark to the fore-edge; leaf with pages 203-204 torn horizontally across the center but not lacking any paper; faint offsetting to corners of preliminary and terminal leaves; front flyleaf remargined. An attractive, sympathetically restored copy, housed in a custom clamshell case.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
