    Scarce memoir by Major William Dunlop, who commanded the sharpshooter battalion formed from the 1st, 12, 13th, and 14th South Carolina Infantry Regiments. He permanently revitalized the battalion in 1864, which served with distinction in the Army of Northern Virginia under General Lee until Dunlop was wounded and captured at Amelia's Courthouse during the retreat from Richmond in 1865. The remainder of the Sharpshooters found their way to Appomattox and many were present for the surrender. Howes D573.
