DescriptionM. Whilldin, compiler. A Description of Western Texas, Published by the Galveston, Harrisburg & San Antonio Railway Company, The Sunset Route. Galveston: "Printed at the 'News' Steam Book & Job Office, 1876." This is the corrected issue, with pages 111-113 correct except for the paragraph at bottom of page 113 relating to the construction of the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio road, which is not present (it was apparently removed to correct an omission at the top of page 112). 12mo. 120pp with 28 lithographed plates of various Texas sights. Does not include the color map of the railway line usually found on the inside front cover. Rebound in half leather over marbled boards. A very good copy of a scarce early Texas travel book.
Large folding map insert (19.25" x 15") entitled Correct Map of Texas Published by the Galveston, Harrisburg & San Antonio Railway. On the verso is a broadside of the text of an article on western Texas by "An Old Texan." Minor holes occur at the crease intersections; minor separations along a few creases in the margins. The map was affixed by glue to a final free endpaper; the map has been separated from the affixed portion, leaving behind a roughly 6" x 1" remnant, still affixed to the page. None of the map text has been lost; only a small portion of the upper right corner of the broadside is missing text. The map is stored in an envelope affixed to the back pastedown endpaper.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.View More Testimonials
