    Lieut. Col. W. H. Emory. Notes of a Military Reconnoissance, from Fort Leavenworth, in Missouri, to San Diego, in California, Including Part of the Arkansas, Del Norte, and Gil Rivers. Washington: Wendell and Van Benthuysen, 1848. First edition. Octavo. 614 pp. Illustrations. 2 folding maps. Original brown cloth. Rubbing and extremity wear on covers. Backstrip lacking. Corners bumped. Textblock cockled and over-opened, some places split and a few gatherings loose. Light toning and scattered foxing. Ink ownership signature on front pastedown and upper corner of title page. Rear hinge broken. A good copy of the better House issue. [together with:] Large Folding Map of Military Reconnaissance of the Arkansas, Rio del Norte, and Rio Gila. 1847. Measures approximately 32.25 x 67.5 inches. Horizontal and vertical folding creases. Some toning, wear and creasing on edges, and chipping with minor loss. Tearing on folding creases, the largest measuring 7 inches. A good map.
