More Information: Willard, president of Harvard from 1781 until his death in 1804, says that "the bitterness, with which the Ministers of the gospel have frequently treated one another, in religious controversy, has hurt their characters, and done disservice to the cause of their divine Lord By-standers have been led to think, that these disputants have possessed little of that love, which they have recommended to others." This is one of only a few publications authored by Willard, says Appleton. Evans 19387 (3327).
