    Cherokee-English Arithmetic Book

John B[uttrick]. Jones. Elementary Arithmetic in Cherokee and English, Designed for Beginners. Tahlequah, Cherokee Nation: Cherokee National Press, 1870. First edition. Twelvemo. [2], 3-61 pages. Quarter cloth over marbled boards. Boards scuffed with some small loss to the lower corners; scattered light foxing, heavier on the preliminary and terminal pages; library mounting remnants on the rear endpaper and pastedown; hinges with cloth reinforcement, else very good condition.

"Commonly known as the 'half-breed arithmetic,' this was the only volume issued of a projected series of official textbooks for tribal schools" (Hargrett Oklahoma). The series ended because, "as the Cherokee national superintendent of schools explained, 'too much white man."' (James Mooney in Forman).

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
