Description

    J. W. Bridwell, compiler. The Life and Adventures of Robert McKimie, Alias "Little Reddy," from Texas. The Dare-Devil Desperado of the Black Hills Region, Chief of the Murderous Gang of Treasure Coach Robbers. Compiled from Authentic Sources by J. W. Bridwell. Hillsboro, Ohio: Hillsboro Gazette Office, December, 1878. First edition. Octavo. [1-3], [4]-56 pages. Sewn. With five engraved illustrations (Robert McKimie [on cover and page 3], Seth Bullock [page 9], Sheriff Newell [page 17], "Granstaff's Cabin" [page 40], and John T. Norris [page 55]). Original blue illustrated wrappers. Housed in a custom chemise inserted in a quarter-morocco slipcase, with titles lettered in gilt on the spine.

"Little Reddy" McKimie killed the stage driver of a Deadwood stage during a holdup in 1877. He was captured in Ohio a year later, but made several escapes with the help of female accomplices.

Condition: Wrappers a bit soiled with a small area of loss on the front wrap near the spine end; light toning to pages, else a very good copy.
