More Information: G. W. Saunders, president of the Old Trail Drivers' Association, commissioned this work. He requested from his membership of old trail drivers and cowboys to submit their reminiscences and adventures. Under the editing of Hunter, this work is the result. Over three hundred sketches are included, covering incidences on trail drives through Texas, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, the Dakotas, and Wyoming. Ramon Adams calls this set "perhaps the most important single contribution to the history of cattle driving on the western trails."
